The Never List - Koethi Zan

I was very disappointed in this book.  It was good, and parts captured my attention, but it wasn't as scary as I had hoped, nor was there anything original about it.  The characters were fairly one dimensional.  You have the goth tattooed feminist, the WASP, the obsessive compulsive, and the sympathetic detective.  And the big plot twist was fairly predictable.  So much so that you barely noticed it.  Three stars for good, but not great.  An average entry complete with compulsory BDSM storyline.

Rework

Rework - Jason Fried, David Heinemeier Hansson

Is roughly 33% pictures.  They don't really add to the book at all.  Good advice but lose the pictures.

Candyfreak: A Journey through the Chocolate Underbelly of America

Candyfreak: A Journey through the Chocolate Underbelly of America (Harvest Book) - Steve Almond if you've ever fell obsessively in love with an idea or a thing, then this is the book for you. it's like a love letter written to candy. absolutely obsessively crazily beautiful.

The Adventures of the Princess and Mr. Whiffle: The Thing Beneath the Bed

The Adventures of the Princess and Mr. Whiffle: The Thing Beneath the Bed - Patrick Rothfuss, Nate Taylor Incredibly messed up ending that you will never see coming.

Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain

Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain - John J. Ratey, Eric Hagerman Now if only this books came with a cattle prod to wake me up in the morning so I would exercise, it would be perfect.

Fifty Shades Freed

Fifty Shades Freed - E.L. James God this was terrible. Ana, we leave emotionally abusive men, no matter how cute they are with their copper curls. Done, on to something that doesn't want to make me burn it just because I can.

Fifty Shades Darker

Fifty Shades Darker - E.L. James One would think the reaction, "oh God not more sex," would probably mean you were reading less than adequate erotica. Someone needs to introduce the author to a dirty word thesaurus stat. Constantly repeating the same words indicates a lack of imagination. I will continue reading as things started getting truly horrible plotwise at the end. God this thing is terrible. 2 stars bacuse I was actually able to finish it, and will read the third even though I'll probably regret it.

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)

Fifty Shades of Grey - E.L. James Very poorly written, with dialogue that is literally absurd, and a relationship that is both physically, and emotionally abusive, but there's just something about these damned books. Maybe I want the protagonist to rise up and kill her abuser, but sadly I doubt that will happen.

Sold Everywhere But Borders

Sold Everywhere But Borders - Rebecca Van Der Jagt If only someone could figure out what made Borders so special and bottle it. Sigh.

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay - Michael Chabon simply amazing
Animal Factory: The Looming Threat of Industrial Pig, Dairy, and Poultry Farms to Humans and the Environment - David Kirby

this is great. if you ever wanted to be afraid of food, this is the book for you. arsenic, MRSA, e coli, water pollution, asthma, COPD, pfiesteria, ammonia, swine flu, mad cow disease, non therapeutic antibiotic use, bird flu, it's in there. and it's in your food, water, and environment as a result of factory farming. enjoy your dinner.

Under the Dome: A Novel

Under the Dome - Stephen King Good King not great King. Reminiscent of the Stand, although not as well done.

Cleaving: A Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession

Cleaving: A Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession - Julie Powell Should be subtitled, Eat, Pray, Have Deviant Sex. Not exactly what I expected after having seen Julie & Julia. I suspect all the dirty parts were edited out to make it safe viewing for all. I still find myself angry at the author for the way it ended. But good overall. Especially suited to those with obsessive passion, and minor mental problems.

Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies (Harper Business Essentials)

Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies (Harper Business Essentials) - Jim Collins, Jerry I. Porras, Jim Collins sometimes it's good to confirm your own knowledge about business. of course then you start to wonder why everyone isn't aware that promoting your CEO from within is the right way to go. and just because someone is currently working for the company does not mean they are unable to be revolutionary.

The Evil B.B. Chow and Other Stories

The Evil B.B. Chow and Other Stories - Steve Almond Almost gave this one four stars, but a few of the stories fell flat at the end. The last story entitled "skull," reminded me of why I love Steve Almond. I couldn't possibly explain what it is about without being arrested for obscenity, but read it yourself and you'll find out.
